The following personnel are New York Life Product Consultants, Advanced Planning Consultants and General Office Sales Support Management team members who provide support to New York Life agents.
Alan Chew, JD, CPA CLU®, ChFC®
Corporate Vice President
Advanced Planning Consultant
Alan Chew supports the Chinese cultural market as an Advanced Planning Consultant for New York Life Insurance Company. Alan works with agents, their clients and their clients’ professional advisors, collaborating on estate, business and tax planning strategies.
Alan has been providing tax, legal and accounting services to the financial services industry and prestigious private sector companies since 1995, as a public auditor, lawyer and law clerk. Alan joined New York Life in 2004, working with the company’s top 250 agents as a Case Development Consultant for The Nautilus Group®; and, in 2010 became a life insurance agent for New York Life, distinguishing himself by qualifying for the prestigious MDRT* and President’s Council in his first year.
As a consultant for the Advanced Planning Group, Alan presents numerous seminars around the country for New York Life agents and their high net worth and business-owner clients, focused on financial strategies and key planning issues that impact their lives. His extensive estate and business planning experience positions Alan as a valuable resource, offering creative and optimal planning solutions.
Alan earned a Bachelor of Business Administration degree (with honors) and a master’s degree in professional accounting from The University of Texas at Austin; and, a law degree from Southern Methodist University (cum laude).
Alan is fluent in Mandarin and other Chinese dialects.
Kimber Ericksen, LUTCF
Life Product Consultant
After graduating from Oregon State University, Kimber relocated to the resort area of Sun Valley, Idaho working in the fly fishing industry and teaching skiing.
She then moved to Boise, Idaho where she became a Licensed Agent and Registered Representative with the New York Life Idaho General Office. Kimber was an agent in the field 5 years and recognized as the New Associate of the Year in 2009, three-time Executive Council member, honored Centurion, and the 2010 recipient of the Gary Hunter Spirit Award. Kimber is also MAP™ certified.
She then moved to New York Home Office and joined the Life Sales Desk Team for 2 years as an Internal Product Consultant. Kimber was awarded the Internal Life Product Consultant of the Year for 2012.
Her current role with New York Life is a Life Product Consultant covering six General Offices in the South Central Zone where she has the opportunity to work with Financial Service Professionals in creative ways as they seek strategies to grow and protect the wealth of their clients.
Mark Jansen, JD, CPA, CLU®, ChFC®

Mark Jansen is a Corporate Vice President and Advanced Planning Consultant for New York Life Insurance Company, serving the agents of the South Central Zone.
Mark is an engaging presenter and skillful consultant, collaborating with agents, their clients and their clients’ professional advisors in the areas of estate, tax and business succession planning.
Mark joined New York Life with over twenty years’ experience in the financial services industry. He has worked with prominent life insurance companies as advanced marketing counsel; and, in several positions for the design and sales of variable and investment-driven insurance products. He has also marketed insurance products through banks and credit unions.
Mark brings a creative and comprehensive approach to using insurance products in estate and business planning. He is known for his practical teachings and conversational style of presentation, speaking frequently to groups about the proper use of insurance in buy-sell agreements and estate plans. Mark’s collaborative approach and technical knowledge positions him as a skillful and insightful specialist.
Mark received his law degree from the University of Michigan Law School (cum laude); and, began his professorial career in the tax department of a nationally prominent accounting firm.

Frank P. LaValla Jr., CLU®, ChFC®, RICP, CASL, CLTC
Investment Solutions Consultant
Frank graduated from the University of South Florida with a Bachelor Degree majoring in Finance and a minor in Management. Frank acquired numerous FINRA related licenses to include his Series 6, 7, 24, 63, and is an Investment Advisor Representative. He received his CLU®, ChFC®, RICP, CASL, and CLTC designations through the American College.
Frank retired as a Master Sergeant from the United States Army. He has served our country for over 20 years and was called upon to deploy to various regions of the world. He was mobilized for Operation Desert Storm/Shield, Operation Provide Comfort, and Operation Enduring Freedom in Afghanistan. He was awarded the Bronze Star Medal, the Meritorious Service Medal, the Humanitarian Service Medal and the Southwest Asia Service Medal with Bronze Battle Star.
Frank started his career in the Financial Services Industry with Waddell & Reed Financial Services as a District Manager and then joined Franklin Templeton Mutual Fund Company as a Key Account Manager working with outside Broker/Dealer firms. He joined New York Life in 1999 as Director, Annuity Sales and he held many positions during his tenor on the investment team. Currently Frank is responsible for promoting the sales of New York Life Insurance Company’s investment products which include Fixed, Variable, and Guarantee Income Annuity Products including Mainstay proprietary mutual funds.
Tyler Flynn-Corbin, MBA
Tyler Flynn-Corbin is an Investment Solutions Consultant with New York Life. He joined New York Life in May of 2006 and he is currently oversees the sale of investment and retirement products in the state of Florida. He has specific expertise in retirement income planning, asset protection and legacy planning. Tyler majored in Economics at Penn State University and completed an MBA in Marketing at Rutgers University. He has FINRA series 6, 7, 63 and 65 licenses. Tyler currently lives in Miami with his wife and daughter.
